Zayn Malik drew media attention when he unfollowed Gigi Hadid, his ex-girlfriend and the mother of their two-year-old daughter Khai, on Instagram following reports in September that she was dating Leonardo DiCaprio. Hadid and Malik had ended their on-off romance for good in October 2021. But things have gotten a lot better now, a source tells Entertainment Tonight.

The outlet reported very rare details about how the co-parents are doing, along with how Hadid is handling her relationship with DiCaprio now. Zayn and Gigi are both focused on co-parenting together,” the source said. “Their relationship is in a much healthier spot than it once was. They are both set on providing their baby girl with the most stable and normal upbringing and life that they possibly can.”

Regarding Hadid and DiCaprio, the source said, “Gigi and Leo’s relationship is friendly, flirty, and low-key. They see each other when they’re able to and make an effort to hang out when it works for both of them, but Gigi is mainly prioritizing her daughter and work.”

Hadid and Malik have both recently spoken about their co-parenting arrangement, and Hadid showed support for Malik publicly when she liked an Instagram he shared earlier this week:

Hadid was the first to share a brief comment about Malik in her March interview with The Times. She recommended “just keeping the importance of the child’s happiness at the forefront. You have a long life alongside this person.”

She then shared that she schedules her work commitments “when Khai is with her dad. That she can be with both parents makes me very happy.” Malik and Hadid split custody evenly.

Malik also spoke about their dynamic during his Call Her Daddy interview released earlier this month. “Co-parenting is is good,” he began. “Yeah. We have a really good relationship for Khai. She’s the, you know, the main importance. Yeah. So yeah it’s going well. I think, from me [and my perspective], yeah.”

He added later that he is “hands-on with my child every chance I can be. If I could get 60 percent [of time with her], I would have it, yeah.”
