Gigi Hadid seems to be taking a style cue from one of the most timeless fashion icons ever.
On Thursday in New York City, the supermodel put her own personal spin on a look reminiscent of Audrey Hepburn’s memorable ensemble from Funny Face. The all-black monochromatic outfit consisted of a pair of skintight Lycra leggings, capped off with slouchy white ankle socks and black platform loafers, a similar silhouette to what Hepburn had worn in the 1957 film.
Rather than completely mimic the Old Hollywood star's look in a black turtleneck, Hadid instead sported a black knit sweater, the hem of which she tucked into the top of her leggings. She capped off the outfit with a crisp black blazer, then further accessorized with her favorite Miu Miu bag and black oval-shaped sunglasses.
All in all, Hadid’s outfit is an elegant blend of nine-to-five attire and happy hour style—something we could easily picture in, say, the Guest in Residence offices or at a bar getting drinks with girlfriends.
Besides sartorially channeling Hepburn, Hadid also followed in the movie star’s footsteps by recently chopping off her long blonde locks for a much shorter springtime ’do. Though not the feathery pixie cut that Hepburn is known for, the model’s fresh new bob is a departure from her signature hair look, which frequently sees her wearing her hair down in soft beachy waves or gelled up in a slicked back bun. On Thursday, Hadid styled the bob with its ends flicked out.
