Gigi Hadid Shows Support For Younger Sister Bella As She Battles Lyme Disease—And Updates Fans On Her Runway Absence

The mom of one went on: "Just wanna touch on this post from last week." Gigi added of Bella, 26: "Bella just finished a long and intense treatment for Lyme disease. Didn't want some to take my post as a promise she'll be back for shows this next season…)."

Gigi continued in the message for her 78.9 million followers: "I'm so proud of [Bella] and excited for her  comeback whenever she feels ready," with glitter and smiling emojis.

In 2012, both Bella and her brother Anwar, along with their mother Yolanda, formerly of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, were diagnosed with Lyme Disease. Symptoms, as noted by the Mayo Clinic, include fever, fatigue, joint aches, and swollen lymph nodes.

In 2021, Bella gave us a glimpse into her life with the illness, showcasing several pictures of herself hooked up to an IV drip. "Living with a few chronic autoimmune disease = always finding time for my IVs," she captioned the snaps.

During an interview with Elle in 2019, Gigi revealed her feelings of guilt for her mother and siblings suffering from Lyme disease. "Growing up, having three of my family members sick made me very independent," she said to the outlet. "My mom couldn't drive or get out of bed some days, so I took my brother to school with me, or I made lunch."

Gigi added: "But I also felt a lot of guilt for being the one person in the family who didn't understand what they were going through. It's hard when your whole family is in pain and you don't know what to do."

Fans shared their support for the Hadids on Twitter in the past few days, and recently commended Gigi's latest sweet tribute to her younger sister.
