Gigi and Bella Hadid Paid Tribute to Their Grandmother with Touching Instagram Posts

On Saturday, August 31, Gigi and Bella Hadid shared that their grandmother, Ans van den Herik, had passed away at the age of 78, E! News reported. The sad news comes a year after Bella paid a surprise visit to "Oma," who was battling cancer.

The sisters posted about Oma's passing on Instagram, and shared a number of images in her memory. For her post, Bella shared a video of the two holding hands, and wrote, "Our beautiful Oma has been laid to rest peacefully. Finally able to be without pain...My spirit animal, idol, twin. I am so grateful for the backbone that was built by her, and for giving birth to my best friend and my everything @yolanda.hadid. She taught me so much about strength, humor, grace, attitude, love...I Can’t think about never being able to hug her again. But I do like to think that she is flying high with our Opa, happy, in heaven." Bella then followed the post with an image of her as a young girl being held by Oma.

Gigi also paid tribute to Oma, sharing an image of the two with the caption: "OUR QUEEN ANGEL fought cancer six times in her life with courage, strength, and grace while being the greatest mother and grandmother. She is an honorable guide we will carry with us forever. We love you more than words, our beautiful wonderful Oma." She also shared two additional pictures from her childhood spent with Oma.

Relying on a support network can be helpful in coping with grief. Everyone processes loss and grief in their own way, and even though a person may need space, having people to turn to who can listen and be there for you through the grieving process can be helpful. As the Hadid family continues to cope with the loss of Oma, it's important for fans and followers to give them the space, privacy, and respect that's so needed at this time.
