Gigantic Cat Weighing 40 Pounds Finds Forever Home in Virginia
Patches will get a special diet and lots of love in his home.
Patches the rescue cat didn't just get a new home this week--he got a whole new lease on life. It isn't clear exactly how this gray and white cat came to Richmond Animal Care and Control in Virginia--or how he became so very, very large--but what we do know is that this overweight kitty is on his way to a much healthier life.
The animal care center first posted about patches on Facebook when he came into their care, and oh boy did he get a response. Everyone had something to say about this 'gloriously gluttonous' feline--and we're not surprised!
OMG! As soon as we saw him, we understood why everyone was so excited to see this chonky boy. We don't think we've ever seen a cat so large!
Facebook commenter Lacey wrote, "What a majestic chonk! 10/10," and we couldn't agree more. He's simply incredible to look at! Of course, it's important to remember that his glorious size isn't healthy for a cat, so even if he's cute, he does need to get some of that weight off.
Luckily, it seems like he's found the perfect owner to help him get in shape and love him every step of the way.
The ideal weight for a cat varies depending on the individual's gender and breed, so that's why it's important to take a few factors into consideration before changing a cat's diet or lifestyle.
"For example," explains Purina, "the weight range for a Siamese Cat is 8 to 15 pounds. Females typically weigh 8 to 12 pounds, while males can weigh 11 to 15. So, a 15-pound female Siamese would be overweight, whereas that size might be perfectly healthy for a male."
