The Giant Soho Loft From Season One of MTV’s The Real World is For Sale
You finally have a chance to own a piece of reality TV real estate, and no, it's not the Seaside Heights beach house from MTV's Jersey Shore-it's even better: the Soho loft featured in season one of MTV's very first reality show, The Real World, has just hit the market for $7.5 million.
After seven strangers moved in to this home together and changed television forever, the gorgeous loft was purchased by painter and sculptor Edwina Sandys and her husband Richard Kaplan. They've owned it for the past 25 years, and they've done extensive renovations on the property since its debut on television in 1992-which is why some features of it are unrecognizable.
According to the property's listing, the late architect and recipient of the Pritzker Architecture Prize, Philip Johnson, called the home "the most beautiful loft in Soho"-and we definitely don't disagree.
Its high ceilings and glass windows let in a ton of natural light to the great room, illuminating the giant white pillars that have been around since the home was first constructed in the 1860s as a jewelry showroom. With five bedrooms, two bathrooms, two powder rooms, an artist's studio, and an enormous great room that opens up to a kitchen and dining area, this loft is definitely ready to be called home by a new owner-or maybe seven? We're looking at you, MTV.
