Giambattista Valli CEO Exits After Three-year Stint

Charlotte Werner, chief executive officer at Giambattista Valli, is exiting the role after three years for a “new challenge.”
Her next move could not immediately be learned.

Werner revealed her departure on her LinkedIn page.
“I am very proud of what we have achieved with the team,” Werner wrote. “I started my journey with the maison in 2020, right in the middle of the COVID-19 crisis. We overcame great challenges, have grown the team, expanded our geographic and product footprint, built and scaled up our online presence, bringing the business into a growth trajectory.”
In a brief statement, the Giambattista Valli characterized the parting of ways as “part of a new chapter in the company’s development,” noting it would announce a new CEO “in due course.”
Valli and his minority stakeholder Artémis tapped Werner as CEO, a newly created position at the Paris-based fashion label as it eyed the lucrative accessories business.
The executive joined Valli from Louis Vuitton, where she had been manager of women’s leather goods collections and transversal projects. Prior to that, the ESSEC Business School graduate was an associate principal at consultancy McKinsey & Company.
“I am very thankful to Mr. François Pinault, Mr. François-Henri Pinault and the Artémis team for their trust and continuous support,” Werner continued in her post. “I am also grateful to Giambattista for sharing his vision of beauty and excellence.
“Thank you so much to my talented team for your passion, energy and commitment. And thank you to all GBV partners around the world for your trust and support.”
Maison Valli, which was founded in 2004 and produces haute couture and the Giambattista Valli ready-to-wear line, has seen rapid growth since Artémis, the private investment arm of the Pinault family, took its stake in 2017, with the potential to become a majority shareholder at a later stage.
Valli recently moved his company into spacious new headquarters a stone’s throw from the Opéra Garnier. He is slated to show his spring 2024 rtw collection during Paris Fashion Week on Sept. 29.
