GE's Viral Nugget Ice Maker Is $225 off for Cyber Monday

Ahhhh, nugget ice. Even if you’re not sure exactly what that means, you’ve definitely had it in your cup a time or two. Popularized by fast food chains like Sonic and Chick-fil-A, it is small bite-sized ice made using an auger system that compacts ice shavings into, well, nuggets. The ice itself is porous so it can take on the flavor of your drink, it’s softer to chew than your regular cube, and it has become a viral sensation. Naturally, we tested the best nugget ice makers on the market, and GE reigned supreme.

Now for the good part: Cyber Monday deals are dropping prices today on GE’s three models of nugget ice makers. The countertop appliances can get pricey, but we’re seeing deals up to $225 off.

If you’re hosting over the holidays and know you’ll go through ice like water (sorry, couldn’t help it), the GE Profile Opal 1.0 makes up to 34 pounds of ice per day (it holds up to 3 pounds at a time). You might not need all that, though, or you might want something smaller on your counter and more technologically advanced. The GE Profile Opal 2.0 is pricier but has WiFi connectivity, so you can turn it off or on from wherever.

Profile Opal 2.0 Nugget Ice Maker

The water reservoir of this ice maker is integrated into the bottom of the unit, so it takes up less space on your counter than the original Profile ice maker (below). It can make up to 38 pounds of ice per day and will start churning out ice around 20 minutes after you start it.

The appliance also has Wi-Fi connectivity, so you can control it from anywhere with the connected smartphone app.

If you have hard water, don’t fret. There’s an ice filtration system available for the lower water reservoir to balance out the taste.

Profile Opal Nugget Ice Maker

This is the fastest GE nugget ice maker, producing ice in about 15 minutes. It can hold up to three pounds of ice at a time and recirculates any water collected from melted ice back into the reservoir so that no water is wasted. It’s a great option if you're hosting over the holidays because you'll never have to worry about running out of ice.

The main difference between this model and the 2.0 (above) is that this one does not have Wi-Fi/app connectivity.

Profile Opal 1.0 Nugget Ice Maker

This appliance has a bit more of an industrial design than the other two on-sale models, but it's just as functional and fast. It will crank out ice in about 10 minutes and can produce 34 pounds of ice per day, holding 3 pounds of ice at a time. The built-in reservoir holds just over half a gallon of water (if that’s not enough, you can add a side tank).
