Geraldo Rivera is leaving Fox News' weekday roundtable, The Five.

The 79-year-old TV broadcaster announced his departure in a statement shared on Twitter on Wednesday, June 21. "Morning, it’s official, I’m off @TheFive,” Rivera's message revealed. "My last scheduled show appearances are Thursday and Friday June 29th and 30th."

His message continued, "It’s been a great run and I appreciate having had the opportunity. Being odd man out isn’t always easy. For the time being, I’m still Correspondent at Large."

Rivera officially joined the Fox News series as its "liberal" panelist opposite more conservative voices and media personalities Jessica TarlovHarold Ford, Jr. Greg Gutfeld, Dana Perino, Jesse Watters, and Jeanine Pirro in January 2022, after making numerous guest appearances on the opinion talk show, which discusses various themes, including political issues and pop culture.

Aside from cracking a joke about keeping his DVR running, neither Rivera nor the cable network has further commented on his exit.

Other outlets have also pointed out that Rivera's vague departure was preceded by cuts to the network's weekend programming.

As for what the TV journalist has planned following his final scheduled appearances on the show next week? Rivera has yet to reveal any immediate plans.

The news comes about two months after fellow Fox News personality Tucker Carlson "agreed to part ways" with the media house after 15 years this past April.

A Fox News spokesperson said at the time, "Mr. Carlson’s last program was Friday, April 21st. Fox News Tonight will air live at 8 PM/ET starting this evening as an interim show helmed by rotating Fox News personalities until a new host is named."
