George Clooney just gave more insight into what life is like for him at home with his wife, Amal, and their three-year-old twins, Ella and Alexander—and it sounds pretty fun.

The actor-director has been making the rounds to promote his latest project, Netflix’s The Midnight Sky, and he’s been very game to discuss at least some aspects of his private life.

He talked to Jimmy Kimmel about a parenting mistake he and Amal made with their little ones. “We did a really dumb thing, which is, they speak fluent Italian,” Clooney said. “I mean fluent Italian at three. But I don’t speak Italian, my wife doesn’t speak Italian, so we’ve armed them with a language.

“I’ll say, ‘Go back in and clean your room,’ and they'll be like, ‘Eh, papa stranzo,’” he continued, while using an Italian accent. “I’m from Kentucky; English is a second language to me.”

George Clooney has also been getting in touch with his domestic side during quarantine. “Laundry and mopping and dishes. I wood-stained the entire house,” he said, though he wasn’t sure about the results when Kimmel asked if he did a good job. “Probably not, but it kept me busy for a while. It kept me out of the room with the kids speaking Italian.”

Clooney also added, “I cook for the family. I’m the chef. My wife, she does amazing things. She gets journalists out of jail in countries like Azerbaijan and Egypt, but when it comes to cooking, she makes reservations. She went to hard-boil an egg once, and she put the egg in the pan and turned the stove on without any water in the pan.”

Clooney previously said of his wife and children to CBS Sunday Morning, “There is no question that having Amal in my life changed everything for me. It was the first time that everything that she did and everything about her was infinitely more important than anything about me. And then we had these two knuckleheads. It is very fulfilling and something I wasn’t at all…didn’t see coming.”
