Actor George Clooney was hospitalized following a motorcycle accident in Italy, several outlets are reporting. The 57-year-old father of twins, Alexander and Ella, fell off his scooter after he was hit by a car.

Italian police told NBC News reporter Claudio Lavanga that the accident was not Clooney's fault; rather, the other car did not "respect the right of way."

He tweeted, "#carabinieri in Olbia tell @NBCNews "'At 08am @georgeclooney was riding his scooter on the State Road 125 towards Olbia. A car did not respect the right of way and hit him. He fell. The car driver called an ambulance. MRI was negative, and he is not seriously injured.'"

Clooney's wife Amal met him at the hospital as he received treatment.

According to a rough translation of the local news source La Nuova, "He reported a slight trauma to the pelvis and bruises to one knee and one arm, but his condition is not serious."

Per the Associated Press, Clooney has been released from John Paul II hospital in Olbia, but La Nuova reports that he will need additional physical therapy in the days to come.

George and Amal have spent significant time in Italy. They were married in in Venice, Italy, in September of 2014, and have a home in Lake Como. In addition to his acting career, Clooney is known for co-founding the popular tequila company Casamigos. He is also a successful director, producer, screenwriter and philanthropist. Clooney will reportedly co-star in an upcoming adaptation of Joseph Heller's Catch-22, a mini-series which will appear on Hulu in America.
