The soap opera world is mourning one of its own.

On May 10, General Hospital executive producer Frank Valentini announced that Jacklyn Zeman, also known as Jackie, had died. She was 70 years old.

"On behalf of our @GeneralHospital family, I am heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved @JackieZeman," the TV producer announced on Twitter. "Just like her character, the legendary Bobbie Spencer, she was a bright light and true professional that brought so much positive energy with her to work."

He continued, "Jackie will be greatly missed, but her positive spirit will always live on with our cast and crew. We send our heartfelt sympathy to her loved ones, friends, and family, especially her daughters Cassidy and Lacey. #GH."

For her work on General Hospital—which she joined in 1977 and went on to appear in over 800 episodes—Zeman received four Daytime Emmy nominations. She was also nominated for the award for her work in The Bay.

So, it's no wonder that General Hospital's Twitter account penned a touching tribute to the late actress following the heartbreaking news. "Jacklyn Zeman has been a beloved member of the General Hospital and ABC family since she originated the iconic role of Bobbie Spencer over 45 years ago," the statement read. "She leaves behind a lasting legacy for her Emmy-nominated portrayal of the bad girl turned heroine and will always be remembered for her kind heart and radiant spirit."

The message signed off with, "We are devastated by the news of her passing, and send our deepest condolences to Jackie’s family, friends and loved ones."

In addition to her work on General Hospital and The Bay, Zeman had several other acting credits on her resume, including One Life to Live, National Lampoon's Class Reunion and Jury Duty: The Comedy, among many more titles.

She is survived by her aforementioned daughters.
