Gecko Learns to Trip the Water Fountain Sensor to Get a Drink

Geckos can be found living on every continent except Antarctica. These reptiles are resilient, adapting to different environments including deserts, rainforests, and even cold mountainous slopes. As adorable as they are, it's hard to get a good look at these animals in the wild because they scurry away faster than lightning.

But TikTok user @cora_dey's mom was able to capture a very unique and impressive video of one tiny green gecko. The video, which already has over 30 million views, shows how this gecko outsmarted the system and got himself a nice sip of water. To say we're obsessed would be an understatement!

O.M.G. Talk about a once-in-a-lifetime video! When is anyone else ever going to see a gecko trip the water fountain sensor to get a sip of water? Our guess is never! Honestly, this green reptile is probably parched after telling everyone how they can save 15% or more on car insurance. LOL!

Did you know that there are about 1,500 different species of geckos? And if you're looking to add one of these precious animals to the family, there are four types of geckos commonly available as pets - Leopard Gecko, Crested Gecko, Day Gecko, and Electric Blue Gecko. The Leopard Gecko, or Eublepharis Macularius, is the most common type of pet gecko. Based on the green color and red markings on the gecko in the video, we believe it is a Day Gecko.

To take care of a gecko, you'll want to load up on crickets as they are the staple food for pet geckos. But just as we would get bored eating the same thing over and over again, we imagine it's the same for geckos. You can also feed your pet gecko fruit flies, worms, and fruits. It's important to add supplements to provide them with additional calcium and vitamins in their diets.
