Geauga County Master Gardeners unveil April classes

Mar. 31—Geauga County Master Gardeners has announced several classes planned in April.

Each class will be held at the Geauga County Extension Office at the Patterson Center, 14269 Claridon-Troy Road in Burton. Also, registration will be required by calling 440-834-4656.

"Common Yard & Garden Weeds" is a free program that will take place 10 a.m. to noon April 6.

Master Gardener Volunteer and botanist Judy Barnhart will help attendees determine what weeds they have as several families are notorious for becoming aggressive, noxious or even invasive, according to a news release. An ID matching activity will be included.

Next "Minimizing Landscape Maintenance" will take place 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. April 24.

As a landscape designer, Master Gardener Volunteer Phyllis Mihalik will share the principles she follows to create landscapes that are both beautiful and very low maintenance at this free program, the release stated. New landscapes and also existing gardens will be covered.

Finally, "Create an Herb Fairy Garden" will be held 10 a.m. to noon on April 27.

Attendees will join Master Gardener Volunteer Dee Toban to learn the basics of creating an herb fairy garden. Participants can bring a child and make one together as they will be supplied with a container, potting mix, plants or flowers, pea gravel, pebbles, twigs, and crafting supplies.

Paid registration of $30 is required by April 15 to hold a spot, the release stated. No refunds after April 15.
