Gayle King Radiated at the Wedding of Misha Nonoo, Meghan Markle's Friend
Misha Nonoo and Michael Hess are officially husband and wife!
The fashion designer and heir to the Hess corporation tied the knot in Rome. As she told People, Nonoo—who is friends with Meghan Markle—designed her own dress.
Dozens of celebrities and high-profile individuals were in attendance, including Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, James Corden, and our very own editor at large, Gayle King.
Congratulations are in order!
After getting engaged earlier this year, Misha Nonoo and Michael Hess are officially husband and wife. The pair wed in a Friday night ceremony in Villa Aurelia, Rome, according to People, and the glamorous wedding was a star-studded affair, with guests like Katy Perry, Orlando Bloom, Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, Karlie Kloss, Paul McCartney, James Corden, and O's very own Gayle King in attendance.
Of course, Gayle looked fabulous, as always. She wore a gorgeous green off-the-shoulder dress with strappy heels and a killer clutch. Who doesn't want to replicate this look (below) immediately?
If you recall, Gayle was among the guests at Markle's baby shower back in February in New York City, where Nonoo was also on hand. In April, Gayle opened up to Entertainment Tonight about the way Markle has been treated in the press. “I don’t think she’s treated fairly, I don’t. I think she is sweet, she is loving, she is kind. She’s extremely generous with her time and her spirit, and I wish we heard more about that,” she said.
Following Gayle's Meghan and Harry Plus One special on CBS, she told OprahMag.com what Markle's inner circle thinks, too. "Her friends make it clear that they don’t feel the need to defend Meghan, because in their mind, she hasn’t done anything that needs defending," Gayle said. "But they did want people to understand that not only is she a beauty inside and out, but she has a big heart. They say she wasn't a bridezilla at her wedding or 'difficult' as she's being portrayed. That's upsetting to them, because they know her as the most generous, giving friend—the kind of person who donates her baby shower flowers to children who need cheering up."
Markle's presence at Nonoo's wedding isn't all that surprising, either. The pair met at a luncheon in Miami and became fast friends, a story Nonoo recounted to the Evening Standard in 2017.
“We were seated next to one another at a lunch, and we got along like a house on fire,” Nonoo said. “She has the most remarkable and generous spirit. I aspire to be as philanthropic as she is, and to have as much of an impact as her.”
“I love her to death,” Nonoo added. “She is the coolest girl in the world.”
Nonoo also made an appearance at Prince Harry and Markle's wedding, and rumor has it the fashion designer is the mysterious matchmaker who set up the royal couple.
Nonoo actually ended up wearing two dresses, and explained how she designed her very own pieces for her big day. “I like to design with a set of parameters. It took awhile for me to come to what it was going to be in the end. I had some ideas initially. I knew I wanted it to be traditional. So I’ve opted for two dresses, so I can tick both boxes!” she told People.
