Yet another story has surfaced showing an example of unfair discrimination, which, again, has us all yelling, “But it’s 2016!”.

The Internet is in uproar after Angus McCormack’s shared his story of what happened when he attended his school’s 133rd birthday.

Taking to Facebook, the openly gay man had not only been a past student, but also the school captain in 2013 and was looking forward to celebrating the school’s achievement.

The eccentric dresser, being fully aware that lifestyle and style choices was not to everyone’s taste, respectfully decided to pair down his look for the cathedral service.

He chose to wear a black suit with a white shirt and bow tie, but it wasn’t good enough for the school.

“Upon my arrival at the Cathedral, after greeting a lot of excited staff and students on my way in, I was approached by the deputy head at the aisle and without even greeting me she told me I was ‘inappropriately dressed’ and commanded that I ‘…leave the event.’”

Not wanting to cause a scene as his father was a board member, Angus decided to graciously turn away and walk out. It turned out his dad was so outraged at his son’s refusal of entry that he too left the event.

Although Angus handled the situation with the upmost maturity and respect, the school’s staff are yet to apologise - and don’t seem like they will anytime soon.

“These are our standards and I am not going to apologise for that, it’s not about self expression — he got it wrong on the night,” headmaster Matthew Maruff told the Herald Sun.
