Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood are one of country’s cutest couples.

They’re the definition of a power duo: They’ve released tons of chart-topping hits, both have won Grammy Awards, and each is a master entertainer. Garth is even performing for the second time at a presidential inauguration during Joe Biden’s ceremony this year. Plus—they’re just so darn sweet! Seeing as how these two were clearly meant to be, it might come as a surprise that their love stories didn’t start with each other.

In fact, Garth was married for 14 years to his ex-wife, Sandy Mahl, and Trisha was married to Christopher Latham and Robert Reynolds before Garth and Trisha ended up with each other. Take a look back at their intertwining lives, and how Garth and his wife finally found happiness. It’s all part of “The Dance,” you might say. 😏

Garth and Trisha met in the ‘80s, but didn’t start dating until much later.

Even though they weren’t romantically involved until the 2000s, Garth and Trisha met and were friendly long before that. Garth told Ellen DeGeneres that the pair first crossed paths in 1987.

“Kent Blazy introduced me and Ms. Yearwood. And he goes, ‘I knew you were going to like her.’ And he said, ‘What do you think?’ And I said, ‘Well it’s strange, because I felt that feeling like when you've just met your wife. But I’ve been married for 13 months,’” Garth explained.

Even though he clicked with Trisha, he was dedicated to his life with Sandy and their three daughters, Taylor, August, and Allie. However in 1998, Sandy and Garth announced their plans to divorce.

“You work and you work, and then comes that time when you’re looking at the rest of your life going, ‘how do you want to live it?’” he said.

Shortly after, he reconnected with Trisha when they both came off of a tour. “We’d known each other music-wise, but we got to see each other as people,” he told Ellen. “And I gotta tell you, if you like her and don’t know her, you’ll love her. If you love her and don’t know her, you’ll worship her. She’s the real deal.” ❤️

They got engaged and married in 2005.

Since she was the “real deal” Garth didn’t hesitate to put a ring on it. In 2005, he proposed to Trisha in front of 7,000 fans during an event at Buck Owens’s Crystal Palace. Can you even imagine!?

They were married that same year on December 10, 2005, in a private ceremony at their home, according to People. “It’s the perfect Christmas gift to each other,” he said at the time. “We could not be happier.

Trisha is a "bonus mom" to Garth's kids.

Though Garth and Trisha do not have children of their own, Trisha is part of the co-parenting equation with Garth and Sandy. In fact, Taylor, now 28, August, now 26, and Allie, now 24, all “married” their bonus mom Trisha on that special day in December, too.

“Trisha doesn’t have children, so they got married. They exchanged rings and said vows to each other,” he told Kelly Clarkson on her talk show. In fact, he kept emphasizing to his girls that if something happened to him, they’d have to take care of Trisha. And here’s what they had to say:

“It was the youngest, Allie, that said, ‘We got your back, bra strap,’” he said. “That was the end of the conversation.” 😂

So what’s their secret?

After 15 years together, the answer is clear: “Garth pretty much just does whatever I say,” Trisha joked on Live with Kelly and Ryan. But in reality, “He’s the most thoughtful, he’s the most romantic. He always thinks about things that will make my life better," she said.

These two! 😍😍😍
