Gardener Shares The Five Veggies That Can Be Grown From Literal Scraps

One thing that I think most people can agree upon nowadays is the fact that everything, from housing to food prices, is going up and getting more than a bit expensive. So many people are turning to alternative methods to grow their own food as a means of not breaking the bank at the grocery store, and luckily we have creative people such as the creators behind Gardening.Thumb who are willing to share their expertise and make things like growing veggies from scraps, and thus saving even more money, totally viable.

Seeds, while not the most expensive thing at the moment, still aren't exactly cheap. At the same time, beginner gardeners can sometimes find it a bit of a challenge to start their garden completely from scratch and might get easily overwhelmed, especially the very beginning.

This reasoning is only part of why using scraps to grow your garden is so useful!

So, exactly what kinds of things can you grow using scraps from food you already are using? We start of strong with potatoes. Many of us throw these bad boys out once we start seeing eyes on them, but stop doing that! Instead, cut your potatoes into quarters and grow them in your garden by planting them with the eyes facing up. Those eyes are actually the buds that are starting the growing process, so why waste them?

Onions are another one listed here that are fairly easy to grow. Simply cut the root bottom off from the rest and plant it, roots facing downward, out in your prepared soil. Give it a good watering and some time and you'll have brand new onions in only a couple of months!
