Gap and Dôen Created a Flirty Summer Collection That Celebrates Sisterhood

What happens when Gap, an American brand known for essential wardrobe items, teams up with Dôen, a California clothing label known for sweet eyelet dresses covered in ruffles? Apparently, a 51-piece collection that somehow infuses the former’s classic sensibilities with the latter’s feminine flair. There are womenswear staples like a floral-printed matching set, a flowy gingham midi dress, and demure navy Mary Janes. Everything is rooted in denim and khaki, but finished in colorful floral prints and slinky silhouettes.

This collaboration in particular is also about more than just the clothing, with sisterhood as a unifying theme. Dôen, after all, was founded by two sisters, Margaret and Katherine Kleveland, who created the brand with the hope of strengthening the bonds between women through a signature feminine aesthetic.

According to a Gap press release, Margaret believes “the timeless and iconic nature of the Gap brand is so inspiring” to both her sister and herself. As this collection came to life, aspirations were realized. “It’s been a dream to watch our collections, so rooted in nostalgia and femininity, reimagined through the classic Gap lens,” adds Katherine in the same statement. “As with all our Dôen designs, the collaboration pieces were designed to be loved, worn in, and passed down.”

Naturally, the photo shoot for the collaboration was an extension of that sisterly Dôen identity. Featuring mom and model Lily Aldridge and her sister, model and singer Ruby Aldridge, alongside twin sisters Levia and Zahar, the campaign photography and film focuses on tender and playful moments between sisters. Fashion tells a story, and Gap and Dôen wanted to unite to tell the tale of how sisterhood is forever. But that doesn’t mean you have to have a sister to wear it. If anything you can just become part of the Gap and Dôen sisterhood instead.
