The Game of Thrones Showrunners Dropped a Concerning Hint About the White Walkers

Warning: Spoilers ahead!

If there's one thing Game of Thrones knows how to do, it's to successfully execute a major twist (as proved a few seasons ago with that time they brought Jon Snow back from the dead). But it's fair to say that after last week's Battle of Winterfell—featuring our living faves versus the Army of the Dead—we all thought that the White Walkers were officially taken care of. That sweet sense of relief, of course, came courtesy of underdog Arya Stark taking out the Night King with her dagger of Valyrian steel, also shattering the White Walkers.

Because Jimmy Kimmel knows fans have a ton of questions about what on earth is going to happen on the show next, Kimmel had Game of Thrones' showrunners, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, on last week to chat about the show—and answer a few questions. GoT's cast and crew are famously sworn to secrecy about upcoming plot points, but that didn't stop Kimmel from giving it his best shot.

"A couple of questions—I don't know if you'll be able to answer them," Kimmel addressed the showrunners. "Are we for sure done with the White Walkers?"

After a conspicuous few seconds, Benioff had an answer—kind of. "We're not gonna answer that."

Of course, that could mean quite a lot—as well as absolutely nothing. Benioff could genuinely have been trying not to give away a secret—or he could have known how desperate viewers are for answers and just winding them up with that hesitant pause. At this point, honestly, the biggest twist of all would be that the White Walkers really are gone.
