The 'Game of Thrones' Season Finale Script Reveals that Jon Snow Was Always Going to End Up Where He Did

*Warning: Spoilers ahead.*

Just like Jon Snow, we thought we knew everything...but we really do know nothing.

HBO released one of the final season scripts for Game of Thrones, and it contains a huge reveal about our protagonist's fate.

Since the show is up for 32 Emmys, including SELF-NOMINATED stars Alfie Allen (Theon Greyjoy), Gwendoline Christie (Brienne of Tarth) and Carice van Houten (Melisandre), the network had to submit the script for the finale episode of season eight to the awards. While some eagle-eyed fans were furious over the news that Drogon wasn't the smartest dragon after all, others caught another big surprise hidden in the script.

Many fans were understandably perplexed (yes, this is an understatement...people were Daenerys-level pissed) by the show's ending, which saw Jon Snow kill the queen in order to save Westeros from more bloodshed at the hands of his ex-girlfriend Dany. Yet Jon still ended up being forced to "take the black" and return to the Night's Watch on the Wall (though, what the heck they do there now that the White Walkers were defeated is absolutely anyone's guess).

But the scripts reveal that we fans should've seen this coming all along, and shouldn't have been shocked when Bran the Three-Eyed raven got the Iron Throne instead of his cousin Jon. The scene is one of the last we see of Jon, when the Stark children are reunited in King's Landing. Sansa, Arya and Bran are all waiting to say their goodbyes to Jon.

The excerpt in question, via Express, reads:

Once again, he wears all black. It was always his colour.

From this line, it's clear that George R. R. Martin indicated to the GoT showrunners, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, that Jon Snow's fate was sealed from the beginning. He was never meant to sit on the Iron Throne.

Even Tyrion knew this. Back in season one, he told Jon: "I can see it. You have more of the north in you than your brothers."

We should've known Tyrion could deliver a solid prophecy. Jon Snow may know nothing, but Tyrion drinks and he knows things.
