If you're still reeling from the 54-minutes of pure anticipative doom which hit our screens around 2am this morning, you better sit down. The trailer for Game of Thronesseason 8 episode 2 has arrived and, with it, the ever-inching threat of the Night King.
The episode - which, unlike the premiere, has earned itself an adult content warning - promises all the death and drama we've come to expect from the fantasy epic.
To begin, the Mother of Dragons faces the man who killed her father - 'Kingslayer' Jaime Lannister - to warn him:"When I was a child, my brother would tell me a bedtime story about the man who murdered our father, and all the things we would do to that man."
Though the soul-searching Lannister is unlikely to be pardoned, scenes showing Sansa and Daenerys telling each other they never should have trusted Cersei suggest Jaime had done the honourable thing and warned them of his sister/former lover's evil plots on arrival.
Rushing into a megamix of chaos, the trailer then appears to show Winterfell preparing for the arrival of the Night King. Albeit pausing to show Arya Stark firing a bow (presumably scratching another name off her kill list, muttering "death has many faces – I look forward to seeing this one") and Missandei kissing Grey Worm (hopefully not for the last time).
When Jon (who appears to be keeping his right to the Iron Throne schtum) asks “how long do we have?”, Ser Davos replies “before the sun comes up tomorrow.”
