Gabrielle Union’s High Ponytail and Berry Lip Combo Is Perfect
Gabrielle Union has been popping up in the news quite a bit recently. First, the 43-year-old made waves among her fans after sharing a makeup-free picture with a blemish on her face (which at first gained her tons of unsolicited criticism) on her Instagram account. And now she’s stepped out for the premiere of her upcoming film, Almost Christmas, sporting possibly the chicest ponytail we’ve ever seen.
Wearing an off-the-shoulder, business-chic cream dress, Union kept her makeup minimal and swept her hair into a voluminous ponytail, leaving only a few face-framing pieces out along her cheekbones. (See the stunning look for yourself above.)
One glance at Union’s ponytail and it’s easy to tell that this hairstyle isn’t just your average gym ’do, proving once again that the lazy-girl staple can also be appropriate for the red carpet. Need more proof? Lily Collins also recently made the messy bun — another gym hairstyle staple — into a glamorous, old-Hollywood look while at the Museum of the Moving Image event this week.
To recreate Union’s trendy look for yourself, start with waved or curled hair. Create a center part, and section out those few, face-framing strands of hair that brush right against your cheeks. Then pull the rest of your hair back into a midlevel ponytail while brushing the sides so they lie sleek and flat against your head. Finally, use a 1.5-inch curling iron to add a few waves to those front, loose sections of hair — as well as the ponytail itself, to give it a more laid-back vibe. Spritz with hairspray, and you’ll be all set to go!
