There are few things more demotivating than walking into a busy, crowded, expensive gym in Manhattan and realizing you have no idea where to start. The inner dialogue starts to spiral.

Is cardio still worth doing?

Which set of dumbbells should I grab before the guy in the tank top has a turn?

Will I hurt myself if I try to use that pull-down cable machine?

It helps to get some professional help. But personal training can cost hundreds, if not thousands, every month, and typically involves multiple 1-hour slots on a strict schedule every week. This works for some, but others need more flexibility. Enter the Future app.

Future eases all of the friction of working with a coach. Their app provides flexible virtual one-on-one personal training that can be done anywhere, at any time. Their trainers build custom plans for each member that break large goals into smaller, actionable steps, and the plans can be adjusted on a weekly or even daily basis.

Working out doesn’t have to mean a strict 1-hour time slot five days a week in a busy, sweaty gym. The Future app puts a personal trainer in your pocket, someone who can shorten a workout from 60 to 45 minutes, add in extra abs, and remind you to stretch all in your own space.

Future memberships start at $199 per month, and right now you can get your first month for just $50 now through September 20. There’s no commitment, and you can cancel at any time.

Joining Future

The steps for starting Future are as follows:

  1. Picking a Coach

Every new Future member fills out a brief survey and receives a handful of recommended coaches to choose from. They have a vast library of coaches from different backgrounds and with different areas of expertise from running to swimming, strength training, and yoga certifications.

  1. Intro Video Call

You and your new coach will meet over a brief video call to say hello and get to know each other. The coach will learn about your goals, workout preferences, favorite equipment, and lifestyle to help inform the workout plans.

  1. New Workouts Each Week

Weekly, the coach will deliver workouts to the app for you to follow in the gym or at home. You can complete them on your own schedule and in your own time frame whenever is convenient for you.

  1. Daily Check-Ins, Feedback, and Celebrations

Coaches will check in daily to say hello, celebrate wins, track progress, and receive any comments or feedback for fine-tuning the plan. If the last workout was way too hard and left you unable to walk? This is when you’ll share that.

Future Membership: What Do You Get?

Unlimited Workouts

Every Future member gets unlimited monthly workouts from their trainer included in the cost. These workouts can be done anywhere, anytime, and the app comes with progress tracking that’s compatible with most wearables. You can also stream Spotify and Apple Music in the app during the workouts.

Seamless User Interface

The app’s interface is oriented around a weekly schedule, and each workout is broken down into movements, the number of reps, the corresponding weight, and a demonstrative video for extra instruction. Any questions? Your coach is there to answer them.

Goal Tracking and Marked Achievements

The app tracks each workout, how close you are to reaching your individual goals for the month and year, and calories burned. It also has a “Messages” section where you can text your coach right inside the app.

Is a Future Membership Worth It?

It’s not the same as an in-person trainer, and the membership is still more than the average budget gym card. But if you’re someone who wants to develop a consistent routine in the gym but doesn’t know where to start — it’s a great option. Walking into the gym and not knowing where to go, what to use, or how long to be there for is a great way to lose motivation or, worst case, injure oneself.

At $199 per month, it’s an easy way to get expert-created workouts and know you’re working towards your goals without needing to come up with complicated training plans yourself. Plus, you have someone there, virtually, to answer questions or provide encouragement.

Plus, right now you can get your first month for just $49 when you sign up before September 20th — so there’s never been a better time to join.
