Furry Friends: Dahlia deserves a loving forever home

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Each week, WFXR News highlights adoptable pets filling up animal shelters across Southwest and Central Virginia.

This week, on Tuesday, May 21, Stephanie Wright with the Franklin County Animal Shelter introduced two-year-old Dahlia to Furry Friends!

Wright describes Dahlia as a “miracle dog”; she was found on the side of the road with some broken bones after being hit by a car. At first, they didn’t know if she would make it. However, Dahlia has healed tremendously. She has a little limp due to nerve damage in her leg, but it doesn’t get her down!

Dahlia wants to share her happiness with everyone she meets. This sweet girl gets along well with cats and dogs. Wright says adopters with other dogs should limit Dahlia’s playtime so she can continue to heal.

Dahlia is ready for her forever home; her adoption is sponsored, so she’s all ready to go!

If you’re interested in adopting Dahlia, the Franklin County Animal Shelter is located at 81 State Street in Rocky Mount. The shelter is closed on Sundays and Mondays. It’s open from noon to 6 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, noon to 4 p.m. on Fridays and Wednesdays, and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays.
