Funny Girl on Broadway is closing this year. The production announced the final show will take place on September 3, 2023.

Stars Lea Michele, Ramin Karimloo, Jared Grimes, and Tovah Feldshuh will be with Funny Girl through the end of the run. (Karimloo, however, will take a leave from June 27 through July 17 to star in The Phantom of the Opera in Italy.) Julie Benko will continue to play Fanny Brice on Thursdays. Per the New York Times, "It has been widely expected within the industry that once Michele’s tenure was over, the show would end its run."

When Michele joined the cast, replacing Beanie Feldstein, her first performance on September 6, 2022 was a smash hit, and she received six standing ovations. "That first performance on stage was insane, and it just keeps going up. This is the perfect storm," Karimloo told Town & Country.
