Bet You Didn't Know About Some of These November Holidays

November might just be one of the most interesting months of the year! If you think about it, the month marks a time of transition! The weather gets a bit cooler and we start to bring out our best flannels and turtle necks. The start of the month also sees us instantly move on from Halloween, allowing us to completely immerse ourselves in some wholesome holiday fun (queue the Thanksgiving planning!). Though, we'd be kidding ourselves if we said that Thanksgiving was the only holiday in November. In fact, that statement couldn't be further from the truth! There are *so* many holidays and observances in November that you may or may not know about, all of them worth celebrating! So, we went ahead and listed a bunch, organized by date so you could see for yourselves.

Before you even begin to roast your turkey, there are sentimental days of honor like Veteran's Day that take place in November. And if you're a foodie, did you know there's a holiday strictly dedicated to sandwiches? And another that's all about French dip? Not to mention, there's a holiday that reminds us to be kind (though, that should be our motto every day of the year!). All this to say, the month has got a lot going on! Read on for a list of November's holidays and observances, along with some cool information about how these holidays are made!

How are are national holidays and observances made?

Good question! The answer is easier than you may think—so easy, that you could even join in on the process! While some holidays have become official based on religious or historic pretext (such as Thanksgiving and All Saint's Day), you'll see on this list that there are other days geared towards nachos, or even something as silly as using your common sense. (Yes, Use Your Common Sense Day is an actual holiday!)

There are a couple ways to go about creating a national day for something you love. For one, you could simply post about it on social media with the hopes that it will go viral. (It has happened many times before!) But if you're looking for something a little more official, you can actually fill out an application over at National Day Calendar! There is a review process, and the people behind the organization do receive many applications a year—so just be patient if you do decide to go this route.
