Fans of Yellowstone are looking forward to the series' final episodes, which will reportedly air in November. That includes Ree Drummond; it's one of her favorite shows although her celebrity crush, Kevin Costner, may no longer be in it. But there's yet another reason to swoon over him: Before Costner was John Dutton, he was his parents' little boy—and he cast them in his movies.

Sharon and William Costner were devoted to their son. “My parents followed me…they saw my Little League games and everything,” Costner once said on the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. Eventually, his parents made their way into his movies. Sharon appeared as a background actor in Tin Cup (1986) and For the Love of The Game (1999), the latter being one of Ree’s favorite baseball movies! Imagine getting your mom and dad in on the thing you’re most passionate about—that’s a real family man.

When Costner directed his first movie, Dances with Wolves (1990), his parents were right there with him. The two got a trailer and parked it near where it was filming in South Dakota. “I would look up on the hill in the morning and they had two lawn chairs and a motor home, and I’d go work with all the guys and I’d see my mom wave at me!” Costner shared on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson in 2014.

Costner gave his dad a small part in the movie. "I said, 'You want to be in the movie, you want to save me?' and he said, 'Yeah,’ Costner recalled in the same interview. The two had an intense scene together: “I'm about to give up my life…and then the soldier who's about to shoot me gets shot in the forehead. He does that and I cut back, and it's my father with the gun.” Dances with Wolves went on to win seven Academy Awards, including Best Director for Costner.
