Fun events planned for the weekend in Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The RiverBeat Festival isn’t the only fun thing happening in Memphis this weekend. There are many other things you can get out and do throughout the greater Memphis area.

For starters, all this weekend is the Monster Jam at the Landers Center in Southaven. Shows are planned for Friday night at 7 p.m., Saturday at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m., and then Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets range from $15 to $75.

Friday night’s First Friday on Broad is all about the mothers and those who still need to buy a Mother’s Day gift– heads up dads and kids, Mother’s Day is next Sunday. From 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., you can come out to shop and have some treats and refreshments while spoiling the special women in your life.

Saturday and Sunday is Fair on the Square in Collierville. It is free to attend; there will be food, arts, craft vendors as well as activities for the little ones. Saturday it is from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Sunday it will take place from noon until 5 p.m.

Heads up, Saturday is also Star Wars Day. May the fourth be with you. The Museum of Science and History is honoring the movie franchise by showing the Original Trilogy: A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. General admission tickets are $12.

Sunday is Cinco de Mayo. What better way to celebrate than with traditional Mexican dancers, live music, local vendors, Mexican beer, and margaritas? Head over to the Cinco de Mayo celebration in Overton Square at 3 p.m.
