'Fuller House' Star Dave Coulier Breaks His Silence on Lori Loughlin College Scandal

From Good Housekeeping

  • Fuller House star Dave Coulier spoke out recently on his feelings about his former co-star Lori Loughlin.

  • Dave also revealed what it was like filming Netflix's Fuller House season 5 without Lori, who plays Aunt Becky.

  • Lori and her husband, Mossimo Giannulli, were accused of bribery in the college admissions scandal last year.

Though Lori Loughlin continues to face legal trouble, Fuller House star Dave Coulier is standing behind the actress.

When asked recently by US Weekly about Lori and husband Mossimo Giannulli's alleged involvement in the college admissions scandal, Dave told the outlet that he really couldn't comment on it — but he did say "we love her dearly."

"However this kind of turns out, we’re there for her," Dave said. "The images that people see aren’t always what is true. And Lori is one of my closest and dearest friends on the planet, and it’s really unfortunate that this has happened, and I will be there for her forever."

Dave, who reprises his original Full House character Joey Gladstone in the Netflix reboot, went on to say that filming the fifth and final season of Fuller House without Lori was "really sad" and it "didn't feel right."

Vulture reported that Lori and the streaming giant cut ties in March 2019. What's more, the When Calls the Heart actress was dropped from all her Hallmark projects. Currently, Lori and Mossimo are working on their defense for their trial, which will reportedly begin in October of this year.

Initially, Lori and Mossimo were accused of paying $500,000 in bribes to scammer William "Rick" Singer to get their daughters, Olivia Jade and Isabella Rose, recruited to the University of Southern California's crew team and secure their admission into the school. The couple pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to commit mail and honest services fraud and rejected a plea deal. After being slapped with additional charges, Lori and Mossimo now face up to 50 years behind bars if convicted, according to Deadline.

Despite the controversy, Dave and many others in the Full/Fuller House family appear to be sticking by Lori's side. Notably, cast members Andrea Barber, Bob Saget, and Candace Cameron Bure — who all started working with Lori when Full House premiered in 1987 — publicly announced their support of the actress.

"Family sticks together no matter what,” Candace said at the Kids' Choice Awards in 2019. “They stick together through the hard times. They support each other. They encourage one another. They pray for each other, and they stand by their side no matter how tough it gets. And a loving family that sticks together also celebrates the really good times together.”

The second half of Fuller House season 5 hits Netflix on June 2.
