Full Video: Six-Year-Old Sani Hellman Surfs Sketchy Slab Well Beyond His Years

Damn kids.

When it comes to surfing, and pretty much everything else, they keep getting better and better, younger and younger, making us old guys and gals look bad.

Case in point: six-year-old charger Sani Hellman; check out his latest edit below:

“That was like the heaviest waves I’ve ever surfed,” says Sani above. “Just like, so heavy. Yewwww!”

The video shows Sani surfing a wave well double-overhead for the youngin’; it’s dangerous by any age or surf experience standards. Shallow, sketchy, hollow.

And it’s not the first time we’ve seen Sani charging, perhaps during this same session or others like it – charging tubes three times his size, and wiping out, too.

So, who is this kid?

Hailing from Ulladulla on Australia’s East Coast, Sani has been a small blip on the surf radar for quite some time – thanks to his charging so hard at such a young age.

And in an interview with SurfYogis, then six-year-old Sani gave advice for his fellow young guns and his goals for the future:

“I would say skate first, and if you get really good at skating you can start surfing on a foamie. Go straight, and then you can start going sideways but don’t lean too much on a foamie. And when you start on a fiberglass you have to just stand there, and then when you get on a smaller board your dad will teach you how to do amazing turns like carves and laybacks and stuff. And then your mum or dad will teach you how to do airs. And then you might be able to get a world title.”

Wise words for a six-year-old. Keep an eye on this kid.
