'Full House' star to speak at Shreveport for CADA Northwest Louisiana meeting

Jodie Sweetin from Full House will be the special guest for the Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse of Northwest Louisiana's annual meeting Oct. 4 at The Strand Theatre in Shreveport.

Sweetin is an entrepreneur, actress, producer and author who garnered the love of millions in her role as Stephanie Tanner on the ABC hit 1990s sitcom Full House and Netflix's Fuller House. Sweetin recently has starred in several films for the Hallmark and Lifetime networks, including Finding Santa, Love Under the Rainbow and The Jane Mysteries: Inheritance Lost. In 2009, Sweetin released her memoir, UnSweetined, about her experience growing up as a child actor and her struggles with substance abuse.

"I was a far cry from the cute little girl that everyone remembered from Full House," Sweetin said in statement on the CADA website. "I wasn't Stephanie Tanner or the girl I was pretending to be in speeches and interviews, but I wasn't exactly the drug addict, wild child that my friends thought I was either. I didn't know who I was."

Program Schedule:

• 5:30 p.m. - Doors open and buffet is served on the Mezzanine.

• 6:30 p.m. - Awards, install officers and new board members.

• 7:30 p.m. - Program begins featuring special guest Jodie Sweetin.

CADA's 65th Anniversary annual meeting is Louisiana's biggest celebration of recovery. Tickets start at $20 and can be purchased at the CADA website.
