After brands like Starbucks and McDonald's announced they were banning plastic straws, customers started to wonder what kind of straws would now be available for consumers to use. A clever social media user suggested we start using Froot Loops Cereal Straws, which were were discontinued in 2009, and the idea went viral.

This is the shit I do like. Got you @Tombrady

Froot Loops fan Hannah Wade started an online petition to bring back the cereal straws, and it has reached almost 13,000 signatures. The petition's Change.org page is a call to action: "People around the world seem to be nostalgic for this delicious treat from our childhood. Bringing back Froot Loops Cereal Straws would bring joy to my generation and generations to come."

In response, Kellogg's has announced that they'll be offering two new takes on the original edible straws, but there's a catch ― the straws will only be available for a limited time at the Kellogg’s NYC Café, starting on August 6.

The Manhattan café features a cereal bar with options like Froot Loops, Frosted Flakes, and Rice Krispies, as well as over 30 toppings like marshmallows, sprinkles, and caramel sauce. And the straws are going to make it that much better.

There are also speciality cereal drinks available, and an Instagram station where you can style your bowl, design your set, and capture and share your photo. The café is also available to host private events like birthday parties, and evening cocktail receptions. And if you're too lazy to get out of bed and you live in New York City, the café also offers delivery. Now you know what to do when you run out of your Sunday morning box of cereal.
