‘Frightened’ senior dog needs ‘savior’ to take him in, shelter pleads. ‘Sweet old man’

A “frightened” senior dog in Texas is getting a ton of attention thanks to a viral shelter post on social media, pleading to find a home for the soulful looking pup.

Meet Tank Valero, a German shepherd mix who is between 8 and 12 years old and is looking to find a family willing to take him in during his golden years, the Humane Society of Central Texas posted on its Facebook page.

“The saddest eyes. ... This sweet, sweet old man needs a savior. That’s all there is to say,” the shelter wrote in the April 8 post.

He “was once a majestic dog. He still carries himself as stately, but time has taken its toll on him, and living in a noisy, upsetting shelter at the end of his life certainly isn’t kind.”

The shelter posted multiple photos of the sweet dog, looking forlorn as he peers at the camera.

“If it’s in your soul to make a difference in a dog’s life, then this guy would be ever so grateful for the opportunity,” the shelter wrote.

The post goes on to say Tank has been pensive when it comes to meet-and-greets with other dogs, so a house without other animals would be ideal, at least for the time being.

Comments poured in from concerned folks and those willing to step in and adopt the pup.

“Poor baby looks so sad. I have 4 and can’t help him. Someone go get this baby and love him!” one person said.

“I would Love to have that sweet baby, he’s beautiful,” another commented.

“Seniors are the best! When I brought Elizabeth, my senior GSD foster home, I thought she’d only have a few months max. But once she was out of the shelter she bounced back! And she’s still trucking along at 13,” someone expressed.

“Beautiful senior boy. We hope a hero comes for you, Tank Valero,” one person said.

The shelter is in Waco, Texas, which is about a 90-mile drive south of Fort Worth.
