While HBO Max's Friends reunion was making headlines (BTS! Lady Gaga!), there was a different kind of reunion going down on Instagram that didn't require a streaming service. Yesterday, the same day that the new special hit the air, Lisa Kudrow shared a photo with her co-star David Schwimmer, explaining that this kind of get-together doesn't happen very often.

"Tonight ... That's how long we waited to get together," Kudrow captioned the post. "Thanks @_schwim_."

And while they weren't there in real life, fellow co-stars Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox were present and accounted for in the comments, writing

"Love you two so much!" and "Awww I love you!!!" respectively.

Fans are used to seeing their Friends come together online. Various combinations of Rachel Green, Phoebe Buffay, Monica and Ross Gellar, Chandler Bing, and Joey Tribbiani have come together for occasions big and small. The SAG-AFTRA Foundation's Patron of the Artists Awards brought together the show's ladies and guest star Paul Rudd back in 2019 and Aniston famously made her Instagram debut with a shot of the cast enjoying a night together. The social media surprises may be fleeting, so its good news that die-hard Friends fans can queue up the new reunion show whenever they need a hit of nostalgia — and to sing along to "Smelly Cat."
