[Update 05/13/2021 2:14 PM ET]: We finally have a premiere date! Friends: The Reunion will air on May 27th on HBOMax. The cast of the show announced the news in the caption of a teaser video they all posted on Instagram.

In addition to the six original cast members, the reunion will also feature some other iconic faces. According to Variety, Justin Bieber, BTS, Lady Gaga and more will be joining in on the special.

OK, could I BE more excited?

[Update 04/02/2021 1:00 PM ET]: Okay, for real this time and no, this isn't a late April Fool's Joke. It looks like the Friends reunion is finally actually happening.

Deadline is reporting that the special is set to film sometime next week, between April 5 and 12. All the original cast members, Matthew Perry, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer and Matt LeBlanc, will be back in Stage 24, where they filmed the original series, to talk about their time on the show.

A release date has yet to be announced, but hopefully we'll see it out sooner than later.

[Update 07/22/2020 12:00 PM ET]: Looks like the wait for the big Friends reunion might be over depending on how things go the next few weeks with COVID-19.

While appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, David Schwimmer revealed that they're still planning to meet up and record the reunion, but things got pushed back due to the pandemic.

"The hope is that this reunion special, which we would love to shoot — it's unscripted. It's basically a really fun interview and other surprise bits," he said. "It’s supposed to happen maybe in August, the middle of August. But honestly, we’re gonna wait and see another week or two if we all determine it’s really safe enough to do. And if not, then we’ll wait until it’s safe."

At least fans can already rewatch the entire series on HBO Max now that the service has launched.

[Original post]:

Looks like that recent reunion was more than just a couple of friends getting back together. Despite years of shutting down rumors and possible reunion news popping up on the internet every so often, it looks like it's finally happening.

Friends fans might painfully remember that the show will no longer be available on Netflix in 2020 for HBO Max. The streaming service, which will also be the home to Gossip Girl, Pretty Little Liars, and more, will be the new home for the 236 episode series when it launches. However, it looks like that fans will also get an extra special welcome when they join the service to watch the show.

According to Deadline, the reunion is not a new episode of the series, but rather, a special that will bring the cast back together in an unspecified way. There's no word on what exactly the cast will be doing, but it will be unscripted and a runtime has not been announced yet.

Jennifer Aniston, who played Rachel throughout the series, has been hinting at a possible reunion over the past couple of weeks. After joining Instagram, Jennifer posted a photo of herself and her Friends co-stars back together for dinner that sparked rumors that something was in the works.

While on Ellen, she also hinted that something was happening, but not in the way that fans were probably expecting and that details haven't been finalized yet.

"We would love for there to be something, but we don’t know what that something is," she said. "So we’re just trying. We’re working on something."

HBO Max is expected to launch in May 2020 and will cost $15/month.
