My Friends on The Morning Show Are Coming Back, Thank God

When The Morning Show first premiered on Apple TV+ in 2019, I didn’t think I’d be interested. After all, I don’t watch morning news, and my interest in TV series about fast-paced reporting environments plateaued at The Newsroom. (God, remember this hilariously awful scene?)

After one episode of The Morning Show, though, I was hooked, less by the show’s content than by the A-list cast. Reese Witherspoon! Jennifer Aniston! Steve Carell! Gugu Mbatha-Raw! Billy Crudup! Mark Duplass! And oh, the guest stars, from Mindy Kaling to Holland Taylor to freaking Marcia Gay Harden. Need I go on?

The Morning Show’s season two trailer dropped on Tuesday, and so far, it looks to be even juicier than its predecessor, with Alex (Aniston) walking out on the titular, uh, morning show she cohosts after exposing a massive sexual harassment scandal. Watch the full trailer for season two, which premieres on September 17 (so close and yet so far), below:

I have a lot of questions, but chief among them: What is that music? Is that a weird, haunting choral version of “New York, New York” by Frank Sinatra…? Okay, sure. There’s so much I’m looking forward to in this new season, but perhaps the most exciting element is the introduction of Julianna Margulies as a journalist who serves as a mentor to Reese Witherspoon’s Bradley. No, it’s not a reunion of The Good Wife, but it’s close enough. Ultimately, all I can do is bide my time and wait to watch Witherspoon, Margulies, Aniston, and all the rest share scenes again.
