You and a Friend Can Actually Stay in the 'Downton Abbey' Castle

As you're busy binge-watching every single episode of Downton Abbey in preparation for the highly anticipated film, we have some exciting news. Die-hard Downton fans can actually book a stay in the famous Highclere Castle, where the hit TV show and movie were filmed. Yes, you can really step foot in the very place where the Crawley's lived thanks to the castle's owners, Lord and Lady Carnarvon.

For one night only, the estate will open up for two lucky individuals to experience a "once-in-a-lifetime stay," according to the Airbnb listing. Upon arrival, you will enjoy "an exclusive evening drinking cocktails in the Saloon followed by a traditional dinner with the Earl and Countess of Carnarvon in the State Dining Room, being waited on by Highclere Castle’s own butler. After dinner, coffee will be served in the Library before you retire to one of the Gallery bedrooms with an en-suite bathroom and views over 1,000 acres of rolling parkland."

Visitors will also be able to explore the 300-room fortress and even tour some of the most iconic spaces from the show, including the drawing room and library. And that's not where the royal treatment ends. Before departing, you'll be served breakfast prior to a private tour of Highclere Castle’s gorgeous 100-square-foot grounds. You'll even receive a "special gift from Lord and Lady Carnarvon so you can enjoy a little bit of Highclere Castle at home."

Before you book your flight to England, you'll need to know how to secure your stay at the estate. Reservations will open up on Tuesday, October 1, at 6 a.m. CST, so make sure to set your alarm and have your tea kettle ready. The stay is slated for Saturday, November 26, and because the owners are expecting a high volume of applicants, all candidates must have a "verified Airbnb profile, positive reviews, and be passionate about Downton Abbey." You'll also need to include the name of the person you'd like to bring with you.

The listing notes that because Highclere Castle "retains much of its 17th-century structure, it is not suited for all accessibility needs." It also mentions that occupants must be able to climb stairs. There is no smoking allowed, and no outside animals are permitted on the premises. However, there are nine friendly dogs on the grounds waiting to greet you.
