FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – What’s described as the Central Valley’s favorite summer food is returning for 2024.

According to Fresno State, its ever-popular sweet corn will be available starting Friday, May 24.

The sweet corn will be sold for 75¢ per ear at the Gibson Farm Market, near the intersection of Barstow Avenue and Chestnut Avenue. The store will start selling the sweet corn at 8 a.m. on Friday.

As well as buying the seasonal sweet corn in-store, Fresno State will also be making available two mobile purchase stations outside, on the north side of the market, to serve opening-day customers who want to purchase pre-bagged corn in quantities of 10 ears for $10.

Fresno State reveals that the first 68 acres of sweet corn were planted on campus on January 12; additional blocks have been planted since to make sure there is enough sweet corn supply until the end of August.

The Gibson Farm Market will be extending its hours to a seven-day schedule starting Friday and continuing until the end of August. Opening times will be 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Saturdays, and 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Sundays.

Due to the expected popularity of Fresno State sweet corn, customers who want to check stock before leaving home are encouraged to call 559-278-4511 for updates on produce availability, or check the farm market’s Instagram and Facebook social media pages.
