Fresh Snow Alert: Sierra Ski Resorts Press The Reset Button

Last night, resorts across California received around a foot of fresh snow depending on their exact location. This comes after a recent dry spell following the storm systems that kicked this winter into overdrive.

Officials at Mammoth Mountain, CA, issued a Fresh Snow Alert for the recent dump.

Officials at Mammoth wrote that "February continues to deliver, bringing in 11-13 inches of fresh powder overnight."

This morning Mammoth's daily conditions report included the information that the mountain is expected to receive another 1/2" throughout the day.

However, things are not all blue skies and fresh pow. "Hold onto your beanies as wind gusts range from 30-60 MPH here at Main Lodge."

"Expect lift delays as wind will likely impact operations. Respect rope closures as Ski Patrol will be conducting avalanche mitigation to safely open terrain."

Rope closures are always that can be frustrating for powder chasers, but are absolutely something to be respected, especially with recent snowfall when the conditions are still being tested and boundaries are put in place to avoid dangerous incidents.

Mammoth isn't the only resort in the Sierras where skiers woke up to fresh snow this morning.

Donner Ski Ranch got 17 inches in the last 24 hours.

Palisades Tahoe got 10 inches overnight, 12 inches in the last 24 hours, and 14 inches over the past week.

It started snowing yesterday, and officials at the resort posted footage of the initial showers.

Sierra-At-Tahoe got 10 inches in the last 24 hours.

China Peak got 8-12 inches in the last 24 hours, and now, only a couple of their trails are yet to be opened.

There is more snow on the way, continuing through this weekend with a heavy amount of precipitation predicted for Monday. Mammoth said it best: February continues to deliver.
