If you thought you knew everything about The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, you might want to think again when you hear all about this new reboot.

The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Will Smith is teaming up with Fresh Prince fan, writer, and producer Morgan Cooper to bring the iconic 90s series back to our screens, but with a big twist. While the original show was a beloved sitcom that wasn't afraid to touch upon hard topics, this brand new reboot will turn it into a dark and gritty drama that might surprise fans.

Morgan Cooper is the original creator of the new version of Fresh Prince and caught the eye of Will Smith when he uploaded his small film, Bel-Air, which offered a look at what would happen if the show was a completely different genre.

As part of the new partnership, Morgan will be a co-creator, co-executive producer, writer, and director of the series. Will Smith will stay on as co-creator and co-EP. Quincy Jones, and Benny Medina, who were producers on the original series, and creators Andy & Susan Borowitz, are planning to return as producers for the project. The Wire, Sons of Anarchy, and The Man in the High Castle producer, Chris Collins, will be the series' showrunner.

THR also reports that there are currently bids from Peacock, Netflix and HBO Max to bring the show to their services. Currently, fans can rewatch the original series on HBO Max. The original series was produced by NBC and aired on the network, which currently owns Peacock.

Casting has yet to be announced as the bidding on the show continues. However, hopefully we'll get to some familiar faces from the original series in some fun cameos.
