French baguettes and coffee in ... SC? New Indian Land bakery promises all that and more

What trip to the gym or to Target is complete without a stop by a French bakery?

Indian Land will have that option, with the addition of a Paris Baguette at 2816 Worldreach Drive. The site is dirt now, in front of the Indian Land YMCA and within walking distance of a planned Target in the CrossRidge development.

Paris Baguette should open late summer 2025.

It will be the second South Carolina location. Hilton Head has the other. The Carolinas also have Paris Baguette locations in North Carolina in Raleigh and one coming soon in Cary. Yet one more is slated for Charlotte at Rea Farms, according to the Facebook page for that mixed-use development. It is expected to open in December.

Chaitanya Inampudi, who will co-own the Indian Land location with brother Venkata and each of their spouses, said the new Charlotte metro stores will have separate owners. The family looked at franchise options from sandwich shops to juice bars, play gyms and tutoring before settling on what they see as a great fit in growing Indian Land.

“We were exploring absolutely everything, but Paris Baguette caught our eye,” Inampudi said. “It has a little bit of everything.”

It has coffee shop vibes and serves soup and sandwiches for lunch, but the main draw is the neighborhood bakery concept.

“If you were to walk into a bakery in this country, typically the collection of pastries or savories are limited,” Inampudi said. “Paris Baguette is a whole gallery of pastries and savories. You name it, you have it.”

It offers custom or grab-and-go cakes, sweet and savory pastries, fresh breads and seasonal specials. Paris Baguette has catering, too.

“Everything is fresh, every day,” Inampudi said. “And that makes all the difference.”

Her family moved to the Ballantyne area from Connecticut in 2016. They moved a year ago to Indian Land. Her brother’s family comes from the Atlanta area. She and her brother each have finance degrees. She works as a financial analyst.

CrossRidge made a ton of sense for the families, with its planned amphitheater and walking space connecting lots of planned retail options in the fast-growing U.S. 521 corridor. It’s at the heart of Indian Land but also a short distance to Fort Mill and Ballantyne.

The new spot in Indian Land will employ 12 to 15 people.

According to its website, Paris Baguette has more than 150 sites in 20 states. There are more than 4,000 sites worldwide.
