A free shiny legendary Pokémon is coming to Pokémon Sun and Moon, here is how to get it in Pokémon Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon

One of the saddest stories in Pokémon Sun and Moon is that of Silvally. It's typically known as Type: Null, an artificially created Pokémon that was made to hunt Ultra Beasts. Created with the cells of Pokémon from different Pokémon types, it was made to be able to shift types at will (not unlike the god-like Pokémon Arceus), making it perfect for hunting aggressive Ultra Beasts.

The project was a failure, though, as the three Type: Nulls that were created went berserk after rejecting their RKS System, which was what allowed them to change type. Helmets were attached to the Type: Nulls, limiting the RKS System, and they were placed into cryogenic sleep indefinitely.

Only one Type: Null was freed, and it's given to the player towards the end of Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon's story. Of course, it's angry, though, for its treatment.

Eventually, Type: Null can evolve though, and break free of its helmet, to become Silvally. This can only happen when a Type: Null is incredibly close to its trainer, and the resulting Silvally will become loyal. Upon destroying the helmet, the RKS System reactivates, allowing Silvally to change its type at will, as originally intended.

Silvally is considered a legendary Pokémon, due to its rarity, meaning shiny variants are even rarer. So, if you want a free one, an event is coming for you to get a free shiny Silvally. Go to Game between November 3 and November 16 to get a code for a shiny Silvally in Pokémon Sun or Pokémon Moon.

These codes won't work in Pokémon Ultra Sun or Pokémon Ultra Moon when they launch on November 17, but there is a way around that. If you use Pokémon Bank, a service that lets you store Pokémon in an online server, you could transfer the shiny Silvally to Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon, possibly getting you a head start. Smart, eh?
