I learned two things today. The first is that there’s a BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse chain, and it’s not associated with the BJ’s Wholesale Club. The second is that Pizookies exist, and I want one.

If you already know both of those things, perhaps there is one thing you don’t know yet. Starting Oct. 3, you can get a free Pizookie every day for three months at BJ’s (the restaurant, not the warehouse) if you’re one of the first to snag one of the limited numbers of BJ’ Pizookie Passes starting Oct. 3.

What Is a Pizookie?

A Pizookie is a cross between a pizza and a cookie that’s topped with ice cream. The cookie is baked in a personal-sized pizza pan making it warm and gooey inside. The ice cream melts a bit on top. BJ’s claims it’s “the perfect ratio of warm and gooey to cold and creamy.”

You may have seen similar items on other restaurants’ menus, perhaps baked in a small cast iron skillet rather than a small pizza pan, but BJ’s seems to be the first to have offered the dessert in 1978.

Guests can now choose from strawberry shortcake, hot fudge brownie, chocolate chunk, cookies and cream, triple chocolate, salted caramel, white chocolate macadamia nut, sugar cookie, or gluten-free chocolate chip cookie baked in the small pizza pan. They can also choose vanilla or chocolate ice cream as a topping.

To date, BJ’s has served 100 million of the sweet treat, and the three-month Pizookie Passes are the restaurant chain’s way of celebrating.

How to Get BJ's 3-Month Pizookie Pass

BJ’s will make 12,000 Pizookie Passes available on its website beginning Oct. 3, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. PDT for just $4.99. Those who score the pass will get one free Pizookie each day for the next three months, including the limited-time-only Spooky Pizookie. This Halloween-themed dessert is made of “darker-than-night cookies 'n cream cookie topped with Oreo crumbs and ghoulish Halloween sprinkles” with an additional topping of “orange-tinted Vanilla Bean I-Scream and served with a mini cauldron of transforming crack-able chocolate topping.”

While the Spooky Pizookie doesn’t appeal much to me, a traditional one with a gooey, warm, salted caramel cookie topped with vanilla ice cream sounds pretty good right about now.
