Free dental services will be provided at two-day Lakeland 'Mission of Mercy' event

The Florida Dental Association Foundation will host its ninth Florida Mission of Mercy event on May 31 and June 1 at the RP Funding Center at 701 W Lime St. in Lakeland. Doors will open at 7 a.m.

The event seeks to provide an estimated 2,000 residents with free dental treatment, the group said in a news release. Care will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis, so patients are encouraged to arrive early. A ticketing system will allow individuals to check in on-site and receive a ticket with a specific time to return to the site to receive care.

Services will include cleanings, fillings, extractions, pediatric dentistry, root canals and a limited number of dentures and partials. A Veterans First initiative on May 30 will give local veterans the opportunity to pre-register to receive priority care. Veterans can pre-register by visiting www.flamom.org and clicking the red “Veterans Dental Event” button.
