While burgers might be strongly associated with American culture, these days, a love of them has clearly become a global phenomenon. In Melbourne, Australia, Café 51 is taking that love to a whole new level. According to BuzzFeed, they are willing to give fans FREE burgers for life. But, of course, there's a catch.

Before all the free burgers, customers will have to get a permanent tattoo of a Café 51 burger, and it must be set to scale. That means no adorable finger tats or ankle ink. You'll have to commit your burger love to a significant amount of surface area. There's no way around it. You'll also have to pay for your own tattoo artist. So if you're willing to do all of that, then this #BurgerTat life is definitely for you.

For those of you who have absolutely no interest in getting a burger tattooed on your body but are still wondering how this ridiculous promotion took off, here's what happened. Legend has it that a man named Steve loved the Café 51 MeatAxe burger so much (...his Instagram handle is literally @meataxe) that he had to get a tattoo of it on his inner upper thigh. His only regret, he's said? "Not getting it bigger." That's not a fan, friends, that's a fanatic.

Apparently, Steve's not the only one to do this. The restaurant's co-founder Steve Agi told BuzzFeed that Steve MeatAxe was one of six people that he knows of who have committed to the burger-loving cause with permanent ink.

Once the restauranteurs caught wind of this increasingly wild tattitude, they thought to make it an official challenge. Now, after posting a registration page online, the café has received 3,000 applications expressing their interest for free burgers in a matter of three days.

Must be a damn good burger.
