Freddie Prinze Jr. 'Regrets' Role in This Popular 2000s Film

The actor revealed one of the two jobs he wishes he didn't take.

For everyone's favorite movie or TV show, there is a lot that goes on behind the scenes that the fans don't know about.

In the case of one beloved, fan-favorite movie, behind-the-scenes issues led one of the lead actors, Freddie Prinze Jr., to regret ever taking the job in the first place.

Prinze Jr. revealed in a new interview with TooFab that he regrets ever working on the live-action Scooby-Doo movies, which he starred in with his wife, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Matthew Lillard, and Linda Cardellini.

When asked if he would work on another sequel in the franchise, Prinze Jr., now 47, said, "It wouldn't be something I would do. I have zero interest...It wouldn't be for me."

As for why, it has a lot to do with the studio, Warner Bros., and things that happened during the production process.

The actor went on, "There was too much bait and switch on the first one, the studio was not honest with me in any way, shape, or form...It wasn't the best. I've been on two jobs where I've had regret doing it, and Scooby was one of them."

"I'm a really honest guy...when I get lied to, you're dead to me. I don't trust you ever again. I'm telling you, ever again. So some of those people would have to still be involved if it got remade. And that's not any business I want to be involved with."

But Prinze Jr. isn't hating on the film in any way. In fact, he said that he grew to have a greater appreciation for Scooby-Doo and Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed when he saw how much it meant to fans.

Prinze Jr. said in the interview, "I didn't fully appreciate Scooby until it was seen and children came up to me, like, 'Oh my gosh.' And when I was able to appreciate the experience through their souls–because that's what they're doing, they're bearing their souls, 'When I was a kid, I watched this and I made my dad watch it 30 times,' and they're sharing their life, that's your soul, right?–then all of a sudden I was like, 'Hey, man, we did good.'"

"We did good, there are legit millions of people that love this movie. It wasn't the movie I wanted to make, but I appreciate that and it made me change my outlook on it," he concluded.

Luckily for fans of the actor, he is interested in returning to another one of his famous franchises, I Know What You Did Last Summer. Back in February, it was reported that both Prinze Jr. and Gellar are in talks for a new sequel.
