IT Frappuccino is a Terrifying (Yet Simple) New Secret Starbucks Menu Item

As far as coffee shops go, Starbucks has a pretty comprehensive menu. But that hasn’t stopped Instagram-loving youths from ordering all manner of photogenic frappuccinos. While most previous iterations of those “secret menu” beverages have been bubbly and colorful, the latest such example is derived from some pretty scary source material.

For whatever reason, certain Starbucks fans have started ordering what’s being called the “IT” Frappuccino in honor of the Stephen King novel/series of movies. Its introduction comes shortly after the release of IT Chapter Two, which hit theaters earlier in September. Starting with a vanilla bean base topped with a strawberry puree, made to vaguely resemble killer clown Pennywise, portrayed by Bill Skarsgard (or Tim Curry, if you’re an adult).

One barista out there played up the connection to the movie with some pretty impressive cup artwork.

While it’s ostensibly an off-menu item, at least one Starbucks out there actively encouraged its customers to give IT a shot.

I’m of the opinion that most of these novelty Frappuccino variations are both more style than substance and a pain for baristas to make. But the IT Frapp deserves some credit for requiring fewer steps to make than the loved (and loathed) tie-dye frappuccino, which required multiple powders. In this case, you’re just adding a strawberry puree (and maybe some whipped cream) to what would otherwise be a run of the mill vanilla bean Frappuccino order.

So if you do feel the need to order a Frappuccino that honors a horror movie that currently holds a 62% rating at Rotten Tomatoes, hopefully the barista making your drink won’t give you a murderous look or try to drag you down into the sewers. Just don’t accept any balloons with your order.
