Frank Ocean, Austin Butler, and Nicolas Winding Refn Star in Prada’s New Campaign

He may be singing about Chanel, but Frank Ocean is now fully team Prada; the elusive singer has been tapped as one of the faces for the brand’s new S/S 2020 men’s campaign.

The campaign, shot by David Sims and titled “Optimist Rhythm,” is playful, taking the Prada name as an acronym with a range of meanings. For Frank, it’s a reference to his production, writing and performing, a full-body shot titled “Programming Rhythms and Dancing Again.”

Frank isn’t the only face in Prada’s latest men’s campaign. Actor Austin Butler, who is poised to play Elvis Presley in an upcoming Baz Luhrmann biopic, joins Frank alongside Danish film director Nicolas Winding Refn, known for films like Drive and The Neon Demon. Prada calls this group a “trinity of contemporary creatives, pivotal cultural personalities of now and archetypes of the hyper fragmented mindset of tomorrow.”

For their part, Prada has previously featured stars like Ezra Miller, Christoph Waltz, and Joaquin Phoenix as faces for their menswear campaigns. While the clothing itself debuted last June at the Minsheng Art Wharf on the East Bund of Shanghai, this is the first print campaign for their S/S 2020 collection and the first time the Prada logo has been reappropriated in this vertical manner.

Frank’s love for Prada is well documented. He wore a minimalist quarter-zip from the label at last year’s Met Gala, and since then, the Blonde singer has been seen rocking the iconic brand in magazine spreads across the globe. So it’s clear to see why now, the singer has solidified his love debuting this campaign.

Frank was recently announced as one of Coachella's headlining acts so, who knows, we might seem him take the stage clad in some viral Prada gear this year?
