Frame Snaps On Drop Landing

Though bikes are pretty darn durable, they can always break catastrophically.

Watch one rider disintegrate the rear end of his frame landing a drop below.

In this video, Will Wright hucked off a set of stairs. When he landed, his rear triangle folded. As far as frame failures go, the back of the bike is better for the front for everyone except your dentist.

Thankfully, Will's failure was relatively low stakes and did not happen somewhere with exposure. He joked that he needed some Flex Tape to fix the damage.

Even though the landing was flat, making the compression harsh, it is highly likely the bike was damaged before Will dropped the stairset. Often, catastrophic failures come from riding with an already damaged bike.

It is always good practice to keep an eye on your frame to make sure there are no threatening dents or cracks.
